DSBC Festival 2018

April 28

Dear Angler and Members,

Just a short up-date on what is happening re the Big Bash Festival!

To all the anglers, just a reminder that Friday the 27th April is a holiday (that is the date for registration) and Tuesday the 1st May is also a holiday. In short, we have a 5-day weekend as I am sure most of us will take Monday off to make it so.

For our mates from out of town, and also our local guys, we will provide boat security from Thursday the 26th April right through to the 2nd May.
As in the past we will store all boats on the beach, and will support this with first class security.

For those with 4x4s you will have access to the beach to service/refuel your craft——-each skipper/driver will have a clearance card.
For those without 4x4s, tractors will be available with our compliments. In fact, if you are fishing from Thursday to Tuesday all tractor and 4×4 services are on us. Just rock up and let us look after you!

Although the above is specific to the angling fraternity, we take this opportunity of communicating with all the DUC and other members that make up our PWC (Point Watersports Club)

This long weekend, and the Festival really belongs to all of us, and we sincerely hope you will be there to enjoy what’s laid on. From the food, to the refreshments, to incredible entertainment, jumping castles for our small ones, we are going flat out to make all part of this great festival.

On this point Butch and Doug are organising a surf ski race that will hopefully (authority still to arranged) take us into the harbour in front of our club house, up to NSRI and then back again. More of this later as the details are being sorted out.

Likewise, the fishing ski guys will also have a division to compete in and Ernie, Chairman of the Paddle Ski club will be putting these plans in place.

We are also hoping the NSRI will do a mock rescue as they have done over the years. Once again this is dependent on the Transnet Helicopter being “in the area” so to speak. Somehow it always rocks up in our hour of need.

For those fishing this is a friendly reminder that you get more tickets in the lucky draws by entering in February——–just 8 days to go.

Looking forward to hosting you all. Besides the fishing it is a great family weekend!!!

Regards,
Hilton Shaun and Allan—The Convenors
