Temporary Site Construction
Those who have been down to the club in the last few weeks will be astonished at the rate at which “The Cattle Shed” is going up. Our new, temporary, home away from home is going to be ready very soon. There has been some concern about the size of the building and the facilities that are going to be available. Believe us, the Committee, Staff, and some of the “Transition Committee” are on the case. To put minds at ease we have attached some architectural renderings courtesy of Richard Cooper. As you can see the “Shed” is only a small part of the facility and what is shown here doesn’t include the full grounds which run the whole way to Signal Road which is where the entrance will be. Many thanks to Richard Cooper for his input into this project. It is much appreciated Richard… Thank you for volunteering to assist!
Regards offers of assistance.. many other members have also come forward to offer their assistance in different portfolios. It is fantastic to see so many offers of help! Please join the Facebook Group: DSBC Place in The Sun and let them know you are keen to get involved, alternatively send in an email and we will hook you up!! For those that have already offered to assist on the “Transition Committee”, we are hoping to have a meet and greet next week – just trying to co-ordinate the best date and time!
Boom gate and access control
As sent out yesterday, the boom gate at the southern entrance is now open, as is the sliding gate where the old entrance used to be next to Ushaka B Parking. The tarred road is now a public road. If you missed previous communications, we have put up a temporary fence with a 12 metre wide opening (so that boats are able to move in and out easily). We will be building a temporary structure for the guards at this opening. A boom was too expensive at this stage so we will be going with the simplest solution… a rope that will be lifted and dropped! Please dont disrespect the Enforce guards. They are there for your protection. Please note that to gain access to the parking you will need to show your blue loyalty card to the Enforce guard on duty. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays there will be two enforce guards at this entrance and they will also assist our current car guards with keeping an eye out. For those that missed it.. we also provide the guards with tea and coffee at DSBC and this means that the patrol cars for the precinct pop in and out at irregular times. There is also a guard in the precinct that patrols with a guard dog and they will be doing additional rounds in our area. We will also keep our two current night guards. If you have any concerns please contact the office or alternatively the guard has a contact number to make contact with DSBC staff at any time necessary.
